Cookie Notice

Last updated: 20 July 2026

This Cookie Notice explains how the National Association for Retired British Transport Police Officers (“NARBTPO”, “we”, “us” or “our”) uses cookies and similar technologies on this website.

What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files placed on your computer, tablet or mobile device when you visit a website. They allow a website to recognise your browser, maintain secure sessions and remember certain information.

Similar technologies, such as browser storage, may perform comparable functions. References to “cookies” in this notice include these similar technologies where appropriate.

How we use cookies

We use cookies only where they are necessary to:

  • operate and secure the website;
  • determine whether your browser accepts cookies;
  • allow registered members to sign in and remain signed in;
  • protect registration and contact forms from spam, automated submissions and abuse; and
  • remember limited website or account preferences.

These cookies support functions requested by visitors or registered members. They are not used by NARBTPO for advertising or behavioural profiling.

Because these cookies are necessary for the operation and security of the website, they cannot normally be disabled through the website. You may block them using your browser settings, but parts of the website—particularly registration and the Members’ Only area—may then not work correctly.

Links to Google’s Privacy Policy and Terms are displayed with, or should be made available beside, forms protected by reCAPTCHA.

Third-party websites

Our website may contain links to websites operated by other organisations. Those websites may use their own cookies. NARBTPO does not control cookies placed by external websites, and you should review the relevant organisation’s cookie or privacy information before using its services.

Simply following a normal link from our website does not allow NARBTPO to control the cookies used on the destination website.

Managing cookies

You can use your browser settings to:

  • view cookies stored on your device;
  • delete some or all cookies;
  • block cookies from particular websites;
  • block third-party cookies; or
  • receive a warning before a cookie is stored.

The method varies between browsers. Please consult your browser’s privacy or help settings for instructions.

Blocking necessary cookies may prevent you from registering, signing in, remaining signed in or using protected parts of the website.

Changes to this notice

We may update this Cookie Notice when the website, the services we use or applicable legal requirements change.

The date at the top of this notice shows when it was last reviewed.
