About Us
WHO WE ARE
Membership of the National Association for Retired British Transport Police Officers is open to all retired officers of the BRITISH TRANSPORT POLICE FORCE, and to retired civilian staff who have worked in connection with the British Transport Police. Also to widows, widowers or surviving civil partners of former members of the Force.
OBJECTIVES OF THE ASSOCIATION
- To encourage retired BTP officers, staff and Special Constables into the Association.
- To foster and maintain friendships formed during active service.
- To establish a means of communication between members relative to their common interests, with particular reference to pensions and travel facilities.
- To endeavour to have Association members elected to the pensioner positions on the British Transport Police Force Superannuation Fund Management Committee.
- To organise social events in accordance with the wishes of the members.
- To obtain financial and other benefits for members wherever possible, e.g. discounted insurances, healthcare and cruise travel.
- To build relationships with relevant bodies that operate in a way to be mutually beneficial to the Association e.g. other Retired Police Officer Associations, British Transport Police Federation, British Transport Police Superintendents Association, and British Transport Pensioners Federation.
- To continue the relationship as branch members of The British Transport Pensioners Federation and the affiliation with National Association of Retired Police Officers (NARPO).
We hold regular Committee meetings. Each year, usually in March we hold an Annual General Meeting. Following that meeting we publish minutes including a financial Statement of Accounts, which is then sent to all our members. A newsletter called ‘Retired Lines’ is published 4 or 5 times a year and sent to all members.
The Association is also affiliated to the British Transport Pensioners Federation that represents the rail industry as a whole in respect of pension and free travel matters.
The present subscription to be a member of the association is £5.00 payable yearly in January.
If you would like to join us then please download the membership form and send it to our membership secretary (ideally by email but if you are worried about trusting your personal information on the internet then you can print it off and trust your postman but you will need to email the membership secretary to get the address to send it to).
Once you have become a member of this association, you will be eligible the following year to become an associate member of NARPO (the Home Office Forces Retired Officers Association). Details of the subscription for NARPO are shown on the renewal form issued by the association each year in December.
