Life after policing finds me semi-retired; still enjoying roles in transport, safety and emergency preparedness and resilience. I have been able to volunteer and until recently, was the Vice Chair of a large FE college in Glasgow. I remain as interested in our pensions as I was when I was working and continue to serve on the British Transport Police Force Superannuation Fund management committee and I am a Pensions Trustee Director on the Railway Pension Scheme, working to ensure pensions are paid securely, affordably and sustainably. I am also delighted to be the Treasurer of NARBTPO, which has direct links to pensions and staff travel facilities while working with others on our committee to secure member benefits.
Like every one of us, there's a balance to be struck and time, for me, needs to be found for golf and travel as well as opportunities to enjoy the company and friendships built up over the years in the job. Â
