Tony Bennett

I remain closely connected with the British Transport Police community. I am the Website Administrator for the National Association for Retired British Transport Police Officers (NARBTPO) at www.narbtpo.com and Deputy Webmaster for the British Transport Police History Group (BTPHG) at www.btphg.org.uk.

Today, I am Director of Opsimathy Limited, https://www.opsimathy.co.uk. where I provide training and consultancy in open-source intelligence (OSINT), cybercrime investigation, online research, digital evidence and investigative techniques. I have delivered training to law-enforcement agencies, security services, regulators, military, investigators and commercial organisations in the UK and around the world.

Before establishing Opsimathy, I spent many years with the British Transport Police, working in investigative, intelligence, cybercrime and digital-forensics roles as a Detective. I managed the Force’s national High-Tech Crime Unit following the retirement of my great friend Martin McKay and later became the BTP dedicated national trainer and subject-matter expert for intelligence systems, OSINT, social-media investigation and cybercrime.

My interest in communications and technology goes back even further. Before joining the police, I served in the Royal Navy as a Radio Operator, working with teletype, Morse code and voice communications and handling sensitive and classified information.
